Job summary

MICRO CENTER in Rockville, MD is seeking self-motivated Retail Computer Technicians. Starting pay is $18/hour with incentives to raise hourly wages up to $21–$35. You will split time between the service counter assisting customers and the shop diagnosing and repairing devices.

Responsibilities include consultations, troubleshooting, and documenting issues, while building BYO systems and maintaining customer communication and inventory accuracy. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with one year related computer service repair or technical customer service experience preferred.
• CompTIA A+ or Apple ACMT/ACiT certifications, or ability to certify within 90 days of hire.
• Excellent communication & interpersonal skills; ability to multi-task and adjust priorities.
• Physical requirement: lift up to 50 lbs and stand for prolonged periods.
• Shifts include hours before and after the store is open to the public and may include mornings, nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person consultations and troubleshooting at the service counter for various computers and electronics.
• Recommend service solutions including data backups, antivirus, extended warranties, and subscriptions.
• Identify, diagnose, and document hardware or software problems on devices.
• Assemble custom computers for BYO builds and maintain knowledge of manuals and certifications.
• Maintain cash till, process transactions, and ensure clean, organized work area with accurate inventory.
• Communicate repair status to customers via face-to-face, phone, text, and email.
