Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Technician to join the perioperative team as an integral member supporting the RN and surgeons. The position involves scrubbing procedures, maintaining sterile technique, and ensuring proper instrumentation and supplies are ready for each case.

The role emphasizes collaboration with the OR team, accurate documentation, and efficient communication across departments to deliver high-quality patient care. Sign-on and relocation bonuses may be offered.

Qualifications

• Independently scrubs basic surgical procedures.
• Applied knowledge of anatomy, physiology, microbiology, and pharmacology for perioperative care.
• Applies knowledge of electricity, chemistry, computers, robotics, and lasers in surgical settings.
• Demonstrates understanding of sterile technique and patient care concepts in a perioperative environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintains asepsis to keep a sterile environment.
• Assists with organization and coordination of supplies and equipment.
• Facilitates communication between units and nursing staff; serves as liaison.
• Records patient data and ensures proper charting and charges.
• Transcribes orders and schedules tests and examinations.
• Prepares patients for transport and assists with activities of daily living.
• Participates in room turnover and inventory control.
• Collaborates with surgeons and OR team to ensure trays and instrumentation are ready.
