Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Technician to integrate into the perioperative team as an integral member, supporting the first, second, or assisting surgical technician roles under the direct supervision of an RN.

The position emphasizes asepsis, teamwork, and efficient coordination of supplies and equipment, with patient care spanning from pre-op to post-op activities. Sign-on and relocation bonuses are available for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• Independently scrubs basic surgical procedures.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology for patient care.
• Applies sterile technique and collaborates with perioperative team.

Responsibilities

• Maintains sterile environment using asepsis.
• Organizes supplies and equipment for efficiency.
• Facilitates communication with nursing staff; liaison between units.
• Collects data on assigned patients as directed by RN.
• Documents patient data accurately in records.
• Transcribes physician orders and schedules tests/exams.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and prepares for transport.
• Maintains patient admission/discharge/transfer logs.
• Collaborates with surgeons and OR team to prepare trays and supplies.
