Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Technician to join the perioperative team as a scrub or assisting technician under RN supervision. The role involves adhering to aseptic technique, preparing and organizing instruments, and coordinating with the OR team for efficient patient care.

Responsibilities include maintaining sterile environments, documenting procedures, and assisting with patient transport and room turnover.

Qualifications

• Independently scrubs basic surgical procedures.
• Applied knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, microbiology and pharmacology for patient care.
• Demonstrates understanding of electricity, chemistry, computers, robotics and lasers in surgery.

Responsibilities

• Maintains sterile environment and asepsis throughout procedures.
• Organizes supplies and equipment to support efficient operation.
• Facilitates communication between units and nursing staff.
• Documents patient data and orders accurately.
• Prepares patients for transport and participates in Time Out.
• Tracks admission, discharge and transfer data.
• Assists with room turnover and instrument sterilization.
• Collaborates with surgeons and OR team to ensure readiness of trays and supplies.
