Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Technician to support the perioperative team as a scrub, circulator, or assistant under RN supervision. You will ensure aseptic technique, manage supplies, and coordinate with the OR team to prepare trays and instruments.

The role emphasizes patient care across the surgical unit, collaboration with surgeons, and adherence to department policies. A recognized credential in Surgical Technology is required.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or Surgical Technology certification required.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains sterile environment with aseptic technique.
• Organizes supplies and equipment for efficient operation.
• Communicates with nursing staff and other departments to coordinate care.
• Collects patient data as directed by RN and unit standards.
• Documents patient information accurately in charts and systems.
• Transcribes physician orders timely and schedules tests
• Prepares patients for transport and assists with mobility as needed.
• Maintains admission/discharge/transfer logs in the system.
• Ensures correct patient charges are entered.
• Participates in QA/PI and Infection Control activities.
• Assists with inventory control and supply chain tasks.
• Collaborates with surgeons and OR team to prepare trays and instruments.
