Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Massachusetts seeks a Surgical Technologist to scrub for surgeons, prepare the OR, and support the team throughout procedures. The role includes instrument handling, patient positioning, and maintaining sterility and efficiency in the operating room.

Required credentials include an accredited surgical technology program completion, national certification, and ongoing BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Accredited school of surgical technology with certification by the date of hire.
• Surgical technologist credential from a recognized certifying body.
• Current BLS certification renewed every two years; AST membership desirable.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates independent scrub function in all cases within assigned service.
• Prepares operating room, checks case cart and instruments for each case.
• Anticipates needs and sets up equipment, supplies and back table per surgeon.
• Assists team, monitors field, and performs emergency procedures as directed.
• Passes, labels, and tracks instruments and supplies during procedures.
