Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support operative procedures in the Operating Room. The role involves scrubbing for physicians, preparing sterile setups, and assisting during surgeries, with emphasis on teamwork and patient safety.

Requires completion of an accredited surgical technology program, AST credential, and BLS certification. This non-exempt position offers a night shift schedule and a potential signing bonus, with comprehensive benefits and growth

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited school of surgical technology with required certification.
• All Surgical Technologist employees must have a credential from a nationally recognized certifying body.
• Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification every two years.
• Maintain AST membership and required educational units/certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgical teams during operative procedures; scrub for physicians in assigned services.
• Prepare operating room by arranging setup, case carts, and instruments.
• Anticipate needs for equipment and supplies; set up back table and Mayo tray.
• Pass instruments and supplies; monitor sponges, needles, and specimens.
• Participate in turnover of operating rooms following procedures.
• Communicate effectively with the surgical team and maintain sterile technique.
