Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist surgeons and provide skilled intraoperative support across cases. This role trains new technologists and supports students, acting as a lead technologist when needed.

With emphasis on efficiency and patient safety, the position requires collaboration with the surgical team to prepare, scrub, and manage instruments, supplies, and case flow across multiple specialties.

Qualifications

• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA).
• Education: Certificate of Completion in Surgical Technology; College Diploma in Surgical Technology.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for surgeon-specific operative/invasive procedures timely and efficiently.
• Ensure instruments, equipment and suture are complete, functional, and ready.
• Set up sterile field and scrub in prior to patient entering the room.
• Organize back table and Mayo stand so others can move to an orderly setup.
• Collaborate with the surgeon to adapt to case needs and procedures.
• Precept surgical techs and RNs to prepare for surgeon-specific procedures.
• Scrub on simple to complex cases and run Mayo independently when needed.
• Plan for expected and unexpected intra-op events and respond calmly.
