Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program.
• Less than 1 year of experience in a surgical setting.
• BLS certification required; CST certification per NBSTSA or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Discuss special needs with the surgeon before surgery and scrub in on time.
• Prepare operative site and clip patient as needed.
• Maintain instrument table and ensure correct counts.
• Set up OR according to procedure and arrange sterile supplies.
• Ensure proper functioning of instruments during procedures.
• Perform surgical counts of sponges, sharps, instruments and other items.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass sterile supplies during surgery.
• Assist with draping, positioning, and specimen handling.
• Disassemble instruments and decontaminate after procedures.
• Maintain inventory and comply with infection control policies.
