Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Surgery Coordinator to manage scheduling and coordination of surgical procedures, testing, and patient services. You will liaise with physicians, patients, and insurers to ensure smooth OR utilization and timely case processing.

The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 3 years of office or clerical experience or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Schedules and coordinates surgical cases with tests and arrangements, matching procedure needs and room availability.
• Recommends surgery times to physicians to ensure adequate space and time for procedures.
• Ensures proper scheduling in the correct area according to facility guidelines and timelines.
• Prepares patient reports for physicians and the department based on procedures performed.
• Maintains knowledge of computer programs used in scheduling (Cycare, Clinipac, McCormick-Dodge OR Scheduler, etc.).
• Reviews future schedules to optimize operating room utilization and advises surgeons accordingly.
• Processes incoming/outgoing surgery-related documents and forms.
• Guides patients on surgical logistics, assists with insurance submissions and pre-certification; arranges accommodations.
