Job summary

Advocate Health in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking a Surgery Scheduler Coordinator to coordinate surgical cases, ancillary testing, and related patient services to ensure efficient operating room utilization.

The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while coordinating with physicians, patients, and insurance providers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 3 years of office or clerical experience or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Schedules and coordinates surgical cases with corresponding tests and arrangements by recognizing differences between procedures and patient needs.
• Recommends surgery times and dates to physicians to assure adequate space and time for completion of surgery.
• Maintains knowledge of the scheduling facilities and procedures to ensure proper scheduling in appropriate areas.
• Prepares necessary patient reports for physicians and the department based on procedures performed.
• Reviews future schedules to best utilize operating rooms and makes recommendations to surgeons.
• Provides guidance to patients regarding logistics of surgery; assists with insurance submissions, preliminary financial arrangements, and pre-certification with insurance providers.
• Performs other duties incidental to the work described herein.
