Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a detail-oriented Scheduling Coordinator to manage surgical cases across surgeons, ORs, hospitals and ambulatory centers. You will verify benefits, obtain authorizations, and communicate with patients about dates, arrival times and required paperwork.

Knowledge of EPIC and CPT/ICD-9 coding is essential, along with strong organizational and communication skills. You will collaborate with clinical teams, billing, and other offices to keep schedules accurate and compliant.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Three years of medical office experience required.
• Knowledge of CPT/ICD-9 coding and medical terminology.
• Proficient with medical office software and EPIC systems.
• Excellent verbal communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information and work with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgeries with surgeons, ORs, hospitals, and ambulatory centers.
• Verify insurance benefits and obtain prior authorizations/referrals.
• Communicate with patients about surgery dates and paperwork.
• Coordinate with surgical teams and billing for scheduling changes.
• Maintain accurate electronic health records and scheduling data.
• Follow HIPAA and organizational policies for patient information.
• Manage physician and facility calendars to optimize OR availability.
