Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health is seeking a Patient Financial Access Specialist - Clinical Scheduling to coordinate scheduling of procedures and surgeries across departments, liaising between referring physicians, patients, and hospital teams. This role requires precise sequencing, pre- and postoperative information sharing, and exceptional patient-centered service.

You will work with Epic, OR at a Glance, and One Line Eligibility to optimize workflows and ensure accurate reimbursement while maintaining

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
• 2–3 years' work experience in a customer service environment preferably in hospital/physician office with high call volumes and low abandonment rates.
• Experience in maintaining and scheduling physician and testing services while making decisions to ensure patient satisfaction is achieved.
• Self-directed, organized and able to educate and advocate for patients and families; multitasking and adaptability with strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Patient throughput: obtain information from referring physicians and providers for reimbursement.
• Accurately sequence complex procedures across departments/locations.
• Coordinate and support tasks related to patient surgical scheduling.
• Provide CPT codes and document surgical procedures prior to scheduling.
• Utilize Epic and other systems to schedule and manage appointments and maintain productivity.
• Deliver service excellence and ensure a positive patient experience.
