Job summary

Intermountain Health seeks a scheduler to manage provider surgery and hospital procedure calendars. The role covers pre‑op coordination, obtaining authorizations, and ensuring timely order transmission to hospitals.

The candidate will verify benefits, coordinate referrals, and communicate with patients about pre‑op requirements. Strong EMR, CPT/ICD familiarity, and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Two years of medical registration, billing, scheduling, or insurance experience.
• Two years of customer service experience.
• Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and calendaring programs.

Responsibilities

• Creates and manages provider’s surgery/hospital procedure schedules and related follow ups.
• Obtains authorization for surgeries/hospital procedures by researching coverage and prior auth.
• Verifies eligibility and benefits; coordinates referrals for out-of-network patients.
• Coordinates any necessary surgical/procedure equipment with hospital staff and reps.
• Pre-op coordination including labs, tests, and prerequisites.
• Documenting in patient charts and addressing billing disputes for surgeries.
