Job summary

Intermountain Health is seeking a capable Scheduling/Pre-Op Coordinator to manage provider surgery schedules, obtain authorizations, and coordinate hospital procedures. You will interact with patients to explain the pre-operative process and ensure all necessary orders and CPT codes are in place for hospital staff.

This role requires strong EMR knowledge, attention to detail, and collaboration with medical staff to support safe, efficient surgical care.

Qualifications

• Two years of medical registration, billing, collection, scheduling, or insurance experience.
• Two years of customer service experience.
• Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and calendaring programs.

Responsibilities

• Creates and manages provider's surgery/hospital procedure schedules and handles changes, cancellations and follow up.
• Obtains authorization for surgeries by researching coverage and prior auth; coordinates referrals for out-of-network cases.
• Obtains proper CPT codes for authorization.
• Coordinates with hospital staff to ensure necessary equipment and scheduling needs are met.
• Meets with patients to explain pre-op process including labs and tests.
• Documents cost estimations and investigates billing disputes related to surgery/procedure.
