Job summary

The Portland Clinic is seeking a Surgery Scheduler to support two busy surgeons in our Nursing Services department. You will coordinate general and local surgeries, manage pre-operative testing, and educate patients on preparation and insurance matters.

Hours are 40 per week, Monday through Friday, with a non-exempt schedule. The role emphasizes HIPAA compliance, precise data entry in the EHR, and collaboration with physicians, medical assistants, and hospital schedulers to keep schedules

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Keyboarding skills.
• Electronic Health Record competency.
• Proficiency in medical software and Microsoft Windows.
• Excellent phone etiquette and communication.

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgeries and procedures in Day Surgery or hospital as directed by physicians.
• Arrange pre-operative diagnostic testing with branches or facilities including hospitals.
• Obtain insurance information and complete referrals and pre-authorizations.
• Copy and send lab work and pre-op test results to the appropriate facility.
• Educate patients on preparation for procedures and any medication instructions.
• Screen calls, route messages, and reschedule patients as needed.
