Job summary

NorthBay Health is seeking a Surgery Scheduler to coordinate patient tests, pre-op/post-op visits, and complex surgical procedures within the clinic patient care team.

The role requires maintaining clear communication with the OR Scheduler, Same Day Center Staff, physicians and patients, ensuring payer requirements are met prior to scheduling the surgery and accurate entry of patient demographics in the EHR.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of experience in a clinic setting with health insurance/benefit requirements.
• Experience as a surgery scheduler in specialty care is preferred.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Gathers, updates and verifies insurance/payer information and enters data into the practice management system.
• Verifies insurance type and eligibility for care.
• Determines when authorization is required and ensures it is obtained prior to service date.
• Schedules complex pre- and post-op appointments with knowledge of pre-admission requirements and protocols.
• Coordinates surgeon schedules and department resources to optimize OR utilization.
• Maintains clear communication with physicians, patients and co-workers.
