Job summary

Qualus seeks a Protection & Control Engineer III to design substation protection and control systems, develop relay schemes, and create procurement specs. The role involves client interaction, cross-functional collaboration, and mentoring junior engineers.

REMOTE/FLEX options are available; qualified candidates may be located near Qualus offices or work hybrid from various US locations, including Westborough, MA.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
• 4–7 years of Substation Protection & Control design experience.
• Strong documentation and organization skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Design substation protection and control systems per codes and client standards.
• Develop protective relaying and control system designs for transmission and distribution substations.
• Create equipment and material specifications for procurement and cost estimates.
• Prepare support documentation for procurement, construction, commissioning, and operation.
• Participate in client meetings and site visits to collect or deliver design data and present solutions.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, vendors, and contractors for project execution.
• Ensure QA/QC processes and technical review of design packages.
• Provide mentorship and oversight to junior engineers and designers.
