Job summary

Qualus seeks a Lead Protection & Control Engineer to drive HV substation designs and mentor junior staff. You will develop relay protection schemes, create detailed one-line and schematic diagrams, and coordinate with clients and vendors to ensure project success.

Remote work is possible within the United States, with hybrid options near select offices. This role emphasizes technical leadership, quality assurance, and cross-team collaboration to advance critical power infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• 10+ years in substation protection & control design.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent document management and organization.
• Strong attention to detail and quality.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Design substation protection and control systems per codes and client standards.
• Develop protective relaying and control system designs for transmission and distribution substations.
• Create relay protection schemes, settings criteria, and control philosophies.
• Prepare equipment specs and cost estimates for procurement.
• Lead design concepts and layouts for new and existing facilities.
• Coordinate with clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams; contribute to project execution.
