Job summary

Qualus Corporation seeks a Protection & Control Engineer III to design substation protection and control systems, delivering reliable, code-compliant solutions. You’ll mentor junior engineers and coordinate with clients and vendors to drive project success from concept through construction.

This remote-friendly role supports national work, with preferred hybrid schedules near key offices. You’ll contribute to high-stakes projects across the electric grid while upholding safety and quality

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering degree required.
• 4–7 years of Substation Protection & Control design experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent document management and organization skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team with clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design substation protection and control systems per codes and client standards.
• Develop protective relaying and control system designs for substations.
• Create relay protection schemes, settings criteria, and calculations.
• Prepare equipment specifications and cost estimates.
• Produce conceptual protection and control designs for new/existing facilities.
• Support procurement, construction, commissioning, and operation/maintenance data.
• Engage in client meetings and site visits to present solutions.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful execution.
• Ensure QA/QC compliance and technical design package approvals.
• Mentor junior engineers by reviewing calculations, drawings, and specs.
