Qualus is seeking a Senior Protection & Control Engineer to lead high‑voltage substation design, focusing on protection and control systems. You will mentor junior engineers, develop relay schemes, and collaborate with clients to ensure quality and reliability across projects.

The role supports remote work within the United States with preferred hybrid options near listed offices; strong communication and project leadership are essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.E.E. or equivalent.
• 7–10 years of Substation Protection & Control design experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent document management and organization skills.
• Strong attention to detail and quality.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication; team oriented.

Responsibilities

• Design substation protection and control systems per codes and client standards.
• Develop protective relaying and control system designs for transmission and distribution substations.
• Create relay protection schemes, settings criteria, and control philosophies.
• Prepare equipment specifications and design scope/cost estimates.
• Lead QA/QC reviews on engineering packages.
• Mentor junior engineers and review calculations and drawings.
• Coordinate with clients, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
