Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Protection & Control Engineer III to design, analyze, and deliver robust substation protection and control systems for high‑voltage projects. You will mentor junior engineers and collaborate with clients, vendors, and cross‑functional teams to ensure quality and reliability across projects.

The role supports remote work within the United States with preferred hybrid arrangements near listed office locations.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering degree required.
• 4–7 years in Substation Protection & Control design.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent document management and organization skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and interact professionally with clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design substation protection and control systems per codes and client standards.
• Develop protective relaying and control system designs for transmission and distribution substations.
• Develop relay protection schemes, relay settings criteria, and control philosophies.
• Create equipment and material specifications for procurement and cost estimates.
• Complete conceptual protection and control designs and layouts for new and existing facilities.
• Prepare support documentation for procurement, construction, commissioning, and O&M.
• Participate in client meetings and site visits to present engineering data and resolve issues.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, vendors, and contractors.
• Ensure QA/QC processes and technical review of design packages.
• Provide mentorship and oversight to junior engineers and designers.
