Qualus is seeking a Principal Substation Protection & Control Engineer to lead high-voltage substation design, protective relay schemes, and control philosophies. You will mentor junior staff, coordinate with clients and vendors, and ensure QA/QC across projects from concept through construction.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited electrical engineering degree required.
• 15+ years of substation protection & protection & control design experience.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license required.
• Strong documentation and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Design substation protection and control systems following applicable codes and client standards.
• Develop protective relaying and control system designs for transmission and distribution substations.
• Create relay protection schemes, settings criteria, and control philosophies.
• Prepare equipment and material specifications and cost estimates.
• Produce conceptual protection and control designs for new and existing facilities.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, vendors, and contractors.
• Lead client meetings and site visits to gather data and present solutions.
• Oversee QA/QC processes and engineer design package reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers and review calculations and drawings.
