Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Indianapolis, IN invites applications for a Substation Engineer Intern. Start date targeted for summer 2027; join a project team in the Grid business unit and support senior engineers on transmission, substation, renewable, and energy storage projects.

You'll assist in engineering calculations, reports, and design tasks, gaining hands-on experience with 3D modeling, AI-enabled tools, and data-driven workflows while delivering timely project updates under supervision.

Qualifications

Active enrollment in a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree with strong preference in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace or Chemical Engineering.
Coursework including Coding, 3D Modeling/Design, and experience using agentic AI.
Knowledge of design techniques for technical plans, blueprints, drawings and 3D visualization.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Self-starter, proactive, able to work independently and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
Work on project reporting, tracking and evaluating project activities and data.
Be involved in power designs and preparation of specifications for procurement of major electrical power equipment and related services.
