Job summary

Sargent Lundy is seeking a Substation Engineer Intern to join our Grid team and assist engineers on transmission, substation, distribution, renewable, and energy storage projects. A target start date is summer 2027.

Under senior guidance, you will develop engineering calculations, prepare designs, support project reporting, and help procure major electrical equipment, while gaining hands-on experience with automation and agentic AI tools.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in BS/MS in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace or Chemical Engineering or related coursework.
• Familiarity with 3D modeling, coding, and AI concepts is valued.
• Strong organization, proactive mindset, and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist in engineering calculations, specifications and designs.
• Support project reporting, progress tracking and data evaluation.
• Prepare specifications for procurement of major electrical equipment.
