Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a Substation Engineer Intern to join our Grid team in Columbus, OH for a summer 2027 start. You will assist senior engineers on projects ranging from transmission upgrades to battery energy storage systems and renewable integration.

You will gain hands-on experience in engineering calculations, design tasks, and project reporting while applying coding and 3D modeling skills and exploring AI-enabled design tools.

Qualifications

Active enrollment in a BS or MS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace or Chemical Engineering with coursework in Coding, 3D Modeling/Design, and AI experience.
Knowledge of design techniques for producing technical plans, blueprints, drawings and 3D visualization.
Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
Self-starter, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal direction.
Ability to identify and prioritize issues, devise solutions and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

Assist in preparation of engineering calculations, specifications and designs.
Support project reporting: track progress and analyze data.
Assist in power design work and procurement specifications for major electrical equipment and installation services.
