Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Substation Engineer Intern to join our Grid team with a target summer 2027 start. You will assist senior engineers on projects spanning transmission, substation, distribution, and battery storage systems, gaining hands-on experience in design, calculations, and specifications.

You will explore coding, 3D modeling, AI applications, and automation tools to improve workflows, with a focus on accuracy and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in a BS or MS in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Chemical Engineering.
• Coursework in Coding, 3D Modeling/Design, and AI awareness.
• Ability to visualize parts in 3D without CAD.
• Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
• Proactive, able to work independently and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
• Track project activities and progress for reporting.
• Prepare specifications for procurement of major electrical equipment and installation services.
• Work on power designs and project documentation.
