Job summary

Electric Power Systems (EPS) is seeking a Control Technician I to support installation, inspection, and maintenance of control wiring systems in electrical substations. You will build foundational skills in cable installation, terminations, and print reading under direct supervision while upholding strict safety and quality standards.

You will work closely with senior technicians and engineers to develop techniques and procedures, maintaining tools and work areas in a clean, organized state

Qualifications

  • Pass pre-employment drug screen due to safety-sensitive role.
  • Criminal background check required.
  • Overtime and travel out of town may be required.
  • Climb ladders, stand for extended periods, lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all safety policies and PPE requirements in substation environments.
  • Participate in safety trainings and daily briefings to maintain hazard awareness.
  • Promote safety culture by following procedures and reporting hazards.
  • Assist with receiving, staging, and verifying materials against material lists.
  • Support cable pulling by handling reels, staging materials, and routing cables under supervision.
  • Apply cable labels and learn wiring practices for control wiring systems.
  • Perform basic cable preparation and terminations under supervision.
  • Assist with megger testing preparation under experienced personnel.
  • Learn to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and follow verbal instructions.
  • Collaborate with senior technicians and engineers to support field activities.
  • Maintain tools and work areas in a clean, organized condition.
  • Keep project area free of hazards and trip obstructions.

Education

Bachelor's or Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronic technology
Military experience preferred
NETA certification preferred
