Job summary

Electric Power Systems is seeking an entry-level Control Technician I to assist with installation, inspection, and maintenance of control wiring in substations.

You will develop foundational skills in cable installation, terminations, and print reading under close supervision, while adhering to strict safety and quality standards. The role offers growth through hands-on training and safety-focused operations.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Willingness to travel/out-of-town and work overtime as needed.
  • Climb ladders, stand for long periods, lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to safety policies and wear PPE in substation environments.
  • Participate in safety trainings and daily briefings to stay aware of hazards.
  • Support incident reviews and lessons learned to improve practices.
  • Assist with receiving, staging, and verification of materials.
  • Support cable pulling, staging materials, and routing cables under supervision.
  • Apply cable labels and learn proper identification of control wiring systems.
  • Prepare cables and conductors for termination under supervision.
  • Support megger testing preparations under guidance of experienced staff.
  • Follow wiring diagrams and schematics to complete tasks accurately.
  • Work with senior technicians to learn proper techniques and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and remove scrap daily.

Excellent written and verbal comms

Education

Bachelor's or Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronic technology
Military experience preferred
