Job summary

Electric Power Systems is seeking a motivated Control Technician I to assist with installation, inspection, and maintenance of control wiring systems in electrical substations. The role emphasizes safety, basic cable work, and learning under supervision.

You will gain foundational skills in cable installation, terminations, and print reading while developing professionally within a structured mentorship program. A strong safety mindset and willingness to travel are essential.

Qualifications

Pass pre-employment drug screen.
Criminal background check required.
Able to work overtime and travel out of town.
Able to climb ladders, stand for extended periods, lift 70 lbs.
Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.

Responsibilities

Adhere to all safety policies and PPE requirements in substations.
Participate in safety trainings, daily briefings, and hazard prevention reviews.
Support material receiving, staging, and verification against lists.
Assist with cable pulling, staging, and routing under supervision.
Apply cable labels and learn wiring diagram interpretation.
Perform basic cable preparation and terminations under supervision.
Support megger testing preparations as directed by senior staff.
Follow wiring diagrams, schematics, and verbal instructions for tasks.
Collaborate with senior technicians and engineers on field activities.
Keep tools and work areas organized and free of hazards.
