Job summary

Electric Power Systems is seeking a Control Technician I to assist in installation, inspection, and maintenance of control wiring systems in electrical substations. This entry-level role emphasizes foundational cabling skills, terminations, and print reading under direct supervision, with a strong focus on safety and quality.

Responsibilities include material verification, cable routing, labeling, basic terminations, and supporting megger testing under seasoned staff guidance.

Qualifications

  • Pre-employment drug screen required for safety-sensitive position.
  • Criminal background check completed to satisfy hiring requirements.
  • Overtime availability and travel to out-of-town sites as needed.
  • Able to climb ladders, stand for long periods, and lift 70 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to safety policies and use of PPE in substation environments.
  • Participate in safety trainings, daily briefings, and hazard reporting.
  • Assist with receiving, staging, and verifying materials against lists.
  • Support cable pulling, routing, and labeling under supervision.
  • Perform basic cable prep and terminations under supervision.
  • Support testing activities, including megger testing preparation.
  • Follow wiring diagrams and instructions to complete tasks accurately.
  • Collaborate with senior technicians and engineers on field activities.
  • Maintain tools and work areas in a clean, organized condition.
  • Ensure walkways and work areas are free from hazards and obstructions.
