Job summary

Quanta-Services' QISG division is seeking a Drafter – Substation to perform routine substation design tasks using CAD and AutoCAD. You will support projects across the QISG platform, reporting to the Design Lead and collaborating with the Engineering, Safety and Quality teams to ensure quality and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Drafting & Design or equivalent certification preferred.
• Experience in drafting disciplines with a background in substation design preferred.
• Entry level in electric utility industry accepted; more experience may yield higher pay band.
• Word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail software expected.
• Extensive knowledge of CAD programs (AutoCAD) preferred.
• Curiosity about major substation components; basic knowledge is a plus.
• Basic oral and written communications.
• Basic knowledge of drawings required to construct an electrical substation.
• Teamwork and effective communication.
• Ability to handle ambiguity and manage multiple tasks independently.

Responsibilities

• Work on design aspects from project inception to completion on various substation projects.
• Utilize CAD design software for substation design.
• Demonstrate knowledge of quality control procedures to ensure high workmanship standards.
• Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of work.
• Research information in catalogs, specifications, corporate standards, or other reference material.
• Learn and properly use the document management system and suggest improvements.
• Raise potential project-related problems and propose solutions to stakeholders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
