Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group (QISG) is seeking a Drafter – Substation to perform routine design tasks for high-voltage substations. This role emphasizes CAD techniques, adherence to standards, and collaboration with the design team.

The position reports to the Design Lead in Engineering and offers opportunities for professional development, with a path across multiple QISG projects in the energy infrastructure sector.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Drafting & Design or equivalent certification preferred.
• Experience in drafting disciplines with a background in substation design is highly preferred.
• No experience required for an entry level position in the electric utility industry. More experience performing detailed CAD/design for high voltage substation projects could result in a higher pay band.
• Word processing, spreadsheet, and e‑mail software.
• Extensive knowledge of various CAD programs (AutoCAD preferred)

Responsibilities

• Work on design aspects from project inception to completion on various substation projects.
• Utilize CAD design software for substation design.
• Demonstrate knowledge of quality control procedures to ensure the highest standards of workmanship.
• Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her work.
• Research information in catalogs, specifications, corporate standards, or other reference material.
• Learn and properly use the document management system and suggest improvements.
• Bring potential project-related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the stakeholders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
