Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary, middle and high school levels to improve academics, attendance and behavior. Training is provided, with 2–4 weeks at the start of the year to support you, plus collaboration with partner teachers and staff throughout the year.

This entry-level, paid, full-time role emphasizes growth, teamwork and community involvement as you help students thrive and reach their potential.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025
• Some college experience or college degree preferred
• Commitment to City Year AmeriCorps program and background checks required

Responsibilities

• Coach 1:1 and small groups of students
• Plan and monitor student progress with teachers
• Assist with in-class instruction and student assistance
• Support extended day and after-school programs and clubs
• Contribute to safe, engaging classroom spaces and positive student behaviors
• Record and monitor student data in City Year systems
