Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve as student success coaches and mentors, focusing on elementary through high school students. This entry-level, paid, full-time role emphasizes academic growth, attendance, and positive behaviors within classrooms.

You will receive 2–4 weeks of training, work with teachers, and help create engaging learning experiences while building foundational skills for students and your own professional development.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; 2–4 weeks of training provided at the start of the year.
• Be eligible to work in the U.S. as a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
• Ages 17–25 by July 1, 2025; GED/high school diploma or higher education.
• Willing to undergo a background check and start by July/August 2025.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to earn academic success and improve attendance.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and support 1:1 and small groups.
• Collaborate with teachers on in-class instruction and student activities.
• Develop literacy and math activities; encourage completion of assignments.
• Help create an engaging, safe, and healthy classroom environment.
• Support school-wide initiatives and after-school programs as needed.
