Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary, middle and high school to help them achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors. You will plan and monitor individual student progress and support teachers with classroom activities.

Qualifications

• Experience in all these tasks is not necessary. We provide 2-4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year to support you.
• Be part of City Year AmeriCorps and gain hands-on coaching experience in schools.
• Be eligible to join City Year AmeriCorps and begin by July/August 2025.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups
• Develop literacy and math activities and monitor progress
• Create and implement behavior management strategies
• Collaborate with teachers to support class instruction and student data
• Help run engaging, safe classroom spaces and school-wide initiatives
• Support extended day and after-school programming for student engagement
