Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students, focusing on academic success, attendance, and positive behavior across elementary to high school levels. You'll receive 2–4 weeks of training, work with teachers and staff, and participate in extended day, virtual programming and service activities.

This entry-level, paid full-time role offers a bi-weekly living stipend and access to AmeriCorps education benefits.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year.
• Work with partner teachers and school staff every step of the way.
• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to identified students.
• Develop literacy and math activities tailored to each student’s level.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Develop interpersonal skills through daily learning, practice, reflection and repetition.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor progress in City Year’s student data system.
• Create a safe, engaging classroom space in collaboration with the teacher.
• Support extended day and virtual programming for students.
