Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to improve academic success and behavior. The role includes 2–4 weeks of training and collaboration with teachers to support both individual students and whole-class instruction.

As an AmeriCorps member, you’ll engage in after-school and in-school programs, with benefits and a living stipend, in a dynamic, community-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in all these tasks is not necessary. Training provided at the beginning of the year to support you.

Responsibilities

• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students: 1:1 and small groups; varied literacy/math activities by level.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect and monitor student progress in City Year’s data system.
• Create a safe, engaging classroom space in collaboration with the teacher.
• Support school-wide initiatives to boost student engagement and family partnerships.
