Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students in elementary, middle, and/or high schools to help them earn academic success and improve attendance. You will plan and monitor individual progress and partner with teachers to support classroom instruction and student needs.

Two to four weeks of training are provided at the year start, with ongoing collaboration with school staff. This is a paid, full-time AmeriCorps position with benefits and opportunities for service-related education

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
• Authorization to work in the U.S. is required
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor elementary, middle and/or high school students individually and in small groups
• Plan and monitor student progress and work with teachers on classroom instruction
• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development
• Create an engaging, safe and healthy classroom space in collaboration with the teacher
• Participate in extended day and virtual programming before, during and after school

Education
