Job summary

City Year is seeking an entry-level AmeriCorps Student Success Coach to mentor students and support teachers across elementary to high school settings. You’ll participate in training, coach students 1:1 and in groups, and help improve literacy, math, attendance, and behavior.

You’ll work closely with teachers, track progress, and contribute to a positive, inclusive classroom environment. This is a full-time AmeriCorps position based in City Year locations in the United States.

Qualifications

• Experience in school settings is not required; 2-4 weeks of training provided at the start of the year.
• You will support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students.
• You will plan and monitor individual student progress and collaborate with teachers.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor elementary, middle and/or high school students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math activities and encourage assignment completion.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Foster interpersonal skills through learning, reflection, and practice.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect and monitor student progress in City Year systems.
• Help create a safe, engaging classroom space in partnership with the teacher.
• Support after-school or extended-day programs and student clubs.
