Job summary

City Year is seeking an entry-level Student success coach and mentor as a full-time AmeriCorps member. You will coach and mentor students across elementary, middle and/or high school to help them achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors.

You will plan and monitor student progress and work with teachers on in-class support. No prior experience is required; the program includes 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year and collaboration with partner

Qualifications

• Experience in all these tasks is not necessary.
• 2–4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year.
• Work with partner teachers and school staff every step of the way.
• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect, record, analyze and monitor student progress.
• Create an engaging, safe and healthy classroom space in collaboration with the teacher.
• Support extended day and virtual programming for students before, during and after school.

Responsibilities

• Coaching and mentoring elementary, middle and/or high school students to improve academics and attendance.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and assist with in-class student support.
• Work with teachers on whole class instruction and breakout spaces.
