Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps is seeking an entry-level student success coach and mentor. You will support elementary to high school students with academic goals, attendance, and positive behavior, under guided supervision, and with ongoing coaching from educators.

Training lasts 2–4 weeks, after which you’ll work with teachers and staff to implement literacy, math, and engagement activities that enhance classroom learning and student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience in coaching or mentoring is not required; training is provided.
• Ability to support students with literacy and math activities.
• Ability to help create a positive classroom environment.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 or in small groups to promote academic success.
• Assist teachers with instruction, small-group work, and in-class support.
• Plan activities to develop reading, writing, and math skills.
• Help track student progress and participate in data reviews.
