Job summary

City Year is hiring an entry-level, full-time Student Success Coach and Mentor to support students across elementary to high school. AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students, monitor progress, and collaborate with teachers to boost attendance and academic skills.

Training is provided, with ongoing support from teachers and school staff throughout the year. You’ll engage in literacy and math activities, help create a positive classroom environment, and participate in school-wide initiatives

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college, or college degree
• Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps state or national program
• Agree to and complete a background check
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025 (start date varies by location)

Responsibilities

• Coaching and mentoring elementary, middle and/or high school students to earn academic success and improve attendance
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and collaborate with teachers on classroom instruction and student support
• Assist with program activities for extended day and virtual programming, student clubs, and leadership development
