Job summary

City Year is seeking an entry-level, full-time Student Success Coach and Mentor as part of the AmeriCorps program. As a City Year AmeriCorps member, you will coach and mentor students across elementary to high school levels, supporting academic achievement, attendance, and positive school behavior.

You will receive training at the start of the year and work with partner teachers and school staff to implement individualized plans and engage students within a collaborative classroom environment

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• GED or high school diploma.
• Background check required.
• Willing to complete 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups to support academic success.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and collaborate with teachers.
• Assist with whole class instruction, breakout spaces, and in-class student support.
• Support extended day and virtual programming and student clubs and related activities.

Education

GED or high school diploma
