Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps member will coach and mentor students across elementary, middle and/or high school to help them achieve academic success and improve attendance. You will plan and monitor student progress and work with teachers on classroom instruction and student support.

Two to four weeks of initial training provided; eligible applicants must meet AmeriCorps requirements and be ready to start by July/August 2025.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
• Have served no more than three AmeriCorps terms
• Agree to a background check
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups to improve academic success and attendance
• Support teachers with in-class instruction and student support
• Assist with whole-school initiatives, after-school programs, and student clubs
