City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary to high school levels, focusing on academic success, attendance, and positive behaviors. You will plan and monitor individual progress and collaborate with teachers on in-class and small-group support.

No prior teaching experience is required; 2–4 weeks of training are provided, and you’ll work with teachers and school staff throughout the year.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college, or college degree
• Have served no more than three AmeriCorps terms
• Agree to and complete a background check
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025

Responsabilités

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups
• Develop literacy and math skills through varied activities
• Create and implement a behavior management system
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress
• Help with whole-school engagement initiatives
• Support extended day and virtual programming for students
