Job summary

City Year is seeking entry-level AmeriCorps members to coach and mentor students across grade levels, helping improve academic performance and regular attendance. You will support teachers with in-class activities, plan progress checks, and foster positive behaviors in school settings.

Initial training is provided; this full-time role includes a living stipend and AmeriCorps benefits. City Year offers opportunities to support students, families, and school communities nationwide.

Qualifications

• Experience tutoring or mentoring students is preferred.
• Ability to plan and monitor student progress.
• Ability to work with teachers and staff in schools.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Support literacy and math skill development with varied activities.
• Create behavior and classroom engagement strategies with teachers.
• Track student progress using City Year data systems.
• Help run extended day and after-school programming where needed.
