Job summary

City Year is seeking entry-level, full-time AmeriCorps members to coach and mentor students across grade levels. You will help students achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors in school.

Expect 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year, plus ongoing collaboration with teachers and city staff to support classroom activities and school-wide initiatives.

Qualifications

• Experience in coaching and mentoring students is preferred but not required; training provided at start of year.
• Ability to work with teachers and school staff throughout the program.
• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident, 17–25 by July 1, 2025, and commit to the program start.
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025; successful background check required.

Responsibilities

• Coaching and mentoring elementary, middle and/or high school students to support academic success.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and participate in reviews of student data.
• Collaborate with teachers on in-class instruction, groups and student assistance.
• Support school-wide initiatives and after-school programs to boost engagement and learning.
