Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary to high school, helping them achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors.

The role includes planning and monitoring progress, collaborating with teachers, delivering engaging activities, and supporting whole-school initiatives. Training provided at year start; paid, full-time position.

Qualifications

• Experience in coaching/mentoring students preferred but not required.
• Ability to plan and monitor student progress with teachers.

Responsibilities

• Work with identified students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math activities tailored by student level.
• Create and implement a behavior management system.
• Develop interpersonal skills throughout the day with strategies of learning and reflection.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect and monitor student progress in City Year’s data system.
• Create an engaging, safe classroom space in collaboration with the teacher.
• Support extended day and virtual programming before, during, and after school.
• Co-lead events recognizing student growth in math, literacy, attendance, and behavior.
