Job summary

City Year is seeking entry-level AmeriCorps members to coach and mentor students across elementary to high school levels. You’ll plan progress, support teachers, and implement behavior strategies to foster academic success and positive school engagement.

You’ll receive training, be part of a team, and contribute to school-wide initiatives, while benefiting from City Year’s extensive program supports and stipends.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025
• GED or high school diploma or some college/degree
• Able to start City Year by July/August 2025 (location varies)

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to achieve academic success and improved attendance
• Plan and monitor individual progress and support teachers with instruction
• Help with 1:1 and small group activities
• Develop literacy and math skills through varied activities
• Create a positive classroom space and safety with teachers
• Support after-school and virtual programming and student clubs
• Collaborate with staff to collect and monitor student data and progress
